The World is Not Enough!

Oh! Lovely she was -A virgin, who descended from the heavens to purify the souls of some thousand odd men. She was too young, too furious and too ravishing. Destruction was bound to occur if  she was ever let loose. So, the Lord, by the virtue of his matted hair tamed her force, pacified her fervor and subjected her to the purpose on earth, promising a better meaning to her life. A nymph she was, a female was she: yielded finally to male ego and might.  She flowed over the mountains and the plains to quench the thirst of the ocean in the east. Men called her 'the holy', 'the divine' and she assumed it sans any filtered notions, for her faith in humanity was robust. But soon she realized the hypocrisy of the men surrounding her; the dichotomy between their words and their actions. The men sneered at her as she flowed; called her 'O, holy' and still spat on her: took her waters for salvation and in return besmirched her with soot, waste and filth of all variants. At times, she retorted asking," Aren't you men worthy of your words?, I am not just functional but divine too, as you claim."

"Divine, Bah!! Divine", was their attitude. Nevertheless, they did a little for her. Updated her status from 'the Divine' to 'National' and crafted some lovely 'action plans' for cure as she was pathetically ageing with the stretch marks and bruises gifted to her by generations. She is no more young, no more ravishing but she is all the more furious with the hypocritical men and her mentor, who had promised a better meaning to her life. As a retaliation, at times, she unleashes her ferocity. Last year too, she proved that one cannot remain docile and be tamed forever and, hence expressed the deep dislike of her existence in this world both to the mortals and the Lord.
